Cherokee Heritage Day

The Museum of the Cherokee Indian offers a family-friendly fun day of free cultural activities including traditional dancing, storytelling, cultural arts demonstrations, genealogy workshops, hands-on craft workshops and more.

Turkey Trot 5K (Sylva)

The Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning is one of the Sylva Rotary Club's signature fundraisers, along with a fall Car Show and a spring Pancake Breakfast. This challenging one loop, 5K course is on the campus of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. The route begins right in the middle of campus at the WCU “fountain” and also ends at the “fountain”.

Bryson City Christmas Parade

Celebrate a Smoky Mountain Christmas at the Bryson City Christmas Parade – the “biggest little Christmas Parade in the Smokies.” There will be plenty of floats, bands, fire trucks, costumes, homecoming queens, candy, and, of course, Santa Claus will be there to bring in the Christmas season!

Sylva Christmas Parade

Downtown Sylva's annual Christmas parade draws hundreds to Historic Main Street for celebration, cheer and a chance to see Santa. The themed parade, featuring 50+ floats usually starts at and ends at Mark Watson Park after a loop through town.
