How do I get from the SUNDOG Places Lifestyle Center to Laughing Trout Camp 572 Bear Lake Road, Tuckasegee, NC 28723 |
- From the SUNDOG Places Lifestyle Center, Continue South (left turn from parking lot) on Highway 107, about 3 miles, to SR 281.
- Take a Left at SR281 (Jimmy’s Mini-Mart/Exxon on corner)
- Take SR281 about four miles, to Bear Lake Road (look for “Bear Creek Lake Public access area and Boat launch” sign on the RIGHT) Bear Lake Road is a dirt road to the right of the sign.
- Follow Bear Lake Road till it ends at the public boat ramp area (about 1 mile); Laughing Trout Camp is to the Right of this boat area, through the gate on the left.

Directions to Bear Creek Park
From Greeter’s Cottage go 3.3 miles on Lake Forest Drive…you will pass Hedgewood Cottages and Whispering Falls Cottages At the wooden bridge take a right Bear Creek Park is the first road on the right, immediately after the wooden bridge
Directions to “Laughing Trout Camp” at Bear Creek Lake
From SUNDOG Places on Hwy 107 in Cullowhee:
- Go South (left out of the parking lot) on Hwy 107, for 3.1 miles
- Turn Left on 281 (Jimmy’s Mini-Mart/Exxon on corner) - can only turn left
- Go approx. 4.1 miles, at the Bear Creek Lake Public Boat Ramp Access (Bear Lake Road, a gravel road), turn Right. Take Bear Lake Road until it ends. Just before the parking lot for boat ramp, take the last driveway on the right (uphill, through the gate)
From Bear Lake Reserve:
- Take Shook Cove Road to Hwy 107. Turn right onto 107.
- Turn right on 281 (Jimmy’s Mini-Mart/Exxon on corner)
- Go approx. 4.1 miles, at the Bear Creek Lake Public Boat Ramp Access (Bear Lake Road, a gravel road), turn Right. Take Bear Lake Road until it ends. Just before the parking lot for boat ramp, take the last driveway on the right (uphill, through the gate)
Directions to “Sundrops on Caney Fork” in Cullowhee
From SUNDOG Places on Hwy 107:
- Go South on Hwy 107 (left turn out of parking lot)
- Take first Left turn onto Caney Fork Road (across from BP station)
- Go approx. ¾ of a mile, turn Left onto Lavender Way, the entrance to “Sundrops on Caney Fork” (Gate code is 5150)
From Bear Lake Reserve:

- Turn right on Hwy 107 and go approximately 3 miles

From the Greeter’s Cottage go 3.3 miles on Lake Forest Drive At the wooden bridge, take the right fork onto Grandview Drive toward the Golf Club Follow Grandview Drive until you reach the Golf Club
