Western North Carolina is home to the beautiful Smoky Mountains.  You can relax and reconnect at the resort pool, lakefront pavailion garden or the meadow.  From family time, to one on one with that special someone or a group of friends, the mountains have something for everyone.  There is so much to do for outdoor fun like; hiking, biking, tubing, boating, and fishing to other leisures like shopping and dining.

Water
Surround yourself in awesomeness on Bear Creek Lake, a 476 acre secluded mountain lake: kayak, canoe, float, swim, ski, rent a pontoon boat, or bring your own boat. With over 13 miles of shoreline there are boulders to jump from, islands to explore, waterfalls to climb, and photo ops. Relax at Laughing Trout Camp-at the lakefront timber-framed pavilion, fireplace, kitchen, 2 full baths, picnic areas, 2 beaches. Ready for adventure? Tube the rushing Caney Fork Creek--about an hour of brisk mini rapids whisks you to the Tuckasegee River, where we'll be glad to drive you back...to start again, or warm up in the Sundrops hot tub.

Fishing
The Sundrops resort, has over a half mile of pristine mountain trout stream, and is ideal for fishermen of all levels. Bear Lake boasts trout, crappie, large and small mouth bass, walleye and more. There is also experiance guides for other area lakes, streams and the Tuckasegee river.

Area Golf Courses

Biltmore Estate
Admission to the Biltmore includes a self guided tour of the house and gardens, the all new Antler Hill village that featurs the winery, the Biltmore legacy, and Village Green. Then venture to the 8,000 acre backyard with outdoor activities, shopping and restaurants.

Blue Ridge Parkway
There's a reason the Blue Ridge Parkway is called America's Favorite Drive. Actually, there are lots of reasons - glorious fall foliage, vibrant spring flowers, charming little towns, friendly mountain folks, rich Appalachian culture, dramatic vistas, quiet meadows, intriguing tunnels - the list goes on. But perhaps what folks love best about the Parkway is its uncanny ability to force travelers to slow down and enjoy the drive.

Shopping
Antiques, unique boutiques and interesting shops are minutes away in every direction: Cashiers, Highlands, Sylva, Waynesville, Cherokee and Dillsboro.

Cycling
Experience some of the most talked about mountain biking on the East coast at Tsali recreation area. Or ride some of the most beautiful and challenging road courses on the Blue Ridge Parkway. For those of you who want a milder road biking experience we have those, too.

Dining
Pick from one of the many local restaurants to fit your appetite. Or if you want to stay outdoors and enjoy the activities head to the store and pick up some family favorites bring them back and use one of our many grills to create a picnic dinner to remember.

Hiking
Take your exercise to a comfortable level on the pedestrian friendly trails along the creek at Sundrops. Bear Lake Reserve has over 20 miles of hiking trails that will challenge the avid hiker, plus family friendly trails for fun with the kids. Nearby, enter the Blue Ridge Parkway for tremendous photo ops, hikes, breathtaking views and awesome picnic sites.
