Discover a mountain-lakefront camping experience like no other. Nestled in the Smoky Mountains of popular Western North Carolina, our yurts are set along the banks of pristine Bear Creek Lake, a 476 acre fish-rich, skiing & boating lake. Set on decks, these round, wood-framed, canvas structures offer luxury and comfort while enjoying an authentic-outdoor-with-nature camping experience.

Enjoy the Laughing Trout Camp's panoramic view of Bear Creek Lake where you can relax by the stone fireplace in cushy upholstered comfort, sip a cold one at the bar, or set up your laptop on one of the log dining tables. Use the outdoor gas grill or firepit or the fully equipped kitchen featuring stainless upgraded appliances, granite counters, and every imaginable kitchen item at your fingertips. Everything you need to prepare casual snacks or gourmet meals can be found in this luxuriously appointed air-conditioned/heated galley-- just bring your groceries! Laughing Trout also offers two full, air-conditioned/heated bathrooms, featuring large walk-in showers, and outfitted for your convenience with all the necessities. Towels are provided. Authentic chamber pot or toddler potty available in yurt.

Just a few steps away, two professionally decorated round yurts provide sleeping comfort on Egyptian-clad Serta beds, cozy sitting areas, functional convenience for keeping track of everyone's gear, Satellite TV, DVD player, Keurig coffeemakers, and many other quiet comforts. The "Snug", our 20' yurt, 314 square feet, has king bed, privacy-screened dressing area & log dresser-- cozy for couples, with space for additional aero-sleeper if needed. The family-size "Bear's Den", our 24' yurt, 452 square feet, comfortably accommodates four, with a king bed, and trundle bed (which can be set up together or as two twins.) Also can accommodate sleeping bags/aero beds. Log dressers/racks provide convenient storage for all and dressing screen makes privacy easy. Each yurt's platform provides comfortable deck seating for private enjoyment of the awesome lake and mountain views.

Follow the path-- to sun, picnic, swim or fish from the private lake dock or one of the sandy beaches. Our dock master will come to you for easy rental of kayaks, canoes, pontoon boat. Pontoon water bike, fishing gear, floats, picnic gear and coolers are available for use during your stay.

Conveniently nearby, enjoy casual or gourmet restaurants, mountain train rides, pictorial golf courses, white water rafting, trout stream, river tubing, biking & hiking trails, Equestrian facilities, Indian Heritage Museum, Cherokee Casino, art museums, live music, shopping, shopping and shopping.

Vacation Rental Features:
Lakefront, timber-frame pavilion, with stone fireplace, sitting areas, dining areas, convenient access to a/c-heated kitchen/baths, outdoor grill, firepit & scenic picnic areas, ample parking can accommodate RV's (no hookups), gated for night time privacy, convenient-adjacent boat ramp, easy on-site rental of boats/kayaks/canoes, private boat dock, two private beaches, free use of water toys/fishing gear, dog kennels. Convenient off-site business center available for fax, copier, FedEx suppiles, Wi-fi, Conference room. All Sundog Club members have access to the lake and camp daily between 7 am and 9 pm. Overnight guests have 24 hour use of lake facilities and use of business center during normal operating hours.

Beds: Snug-sleeps 2 (king), Bear's Den (King, twin trundle) sleeps 4; Serta mattresses, luxury linens, comforters, pillows provided (Aero bed/sleeping bag can be added)

Kitchen/Bathrooms: upgraded appliances: refrigerator, range, microwave, ice machine, washer and dryer, cooking utensils/dishes/cookware, coffee maker, blender, toaster, iron, vacuum cleaner, first-aid kit, telephone, detailed inventory list available; portable coolers, picnic basket, fishing gear, floats, games available for use. Baths equipped with hair dryers, soap, paper, shampoo, towels.

Outdoor Features: Lakefront pavilion with fireplace, sitting & dining areas; open picnic areas, fire pit, gas grill, private beaches, private dock, individual private decks around each yurt, 476 acre pristine lake--fish, swim, boat, ski, float, watercraft available, horseshoes, games. Loaner fly-fishing and reel fishing gear available.

View Location: Long-range mountain, lakefront, lake view from yurt decks-pavilion- outdoor grill and picnic areas; Central to Blue Ridge Parkway, Cashiers, Highlands and Sylva; hour from Asheville. About three hours from Atlanta.

Communications: Telephone in kitchen (local calls). Wi-Fi internet. Cell phone reception questionable. Off-site Business Center offers Wi-fi internet, private desk area, conference room, fax, copier, FedEx suppiles, mail, telephone.

Suitability: Kid-friendly. Ramp to pavilion kitchen (gravel/stone paths, steps to yurts, steeper path to lake). NON-SMOKING. Pet friendly- small dog breeds/sizes allowed, (Non-refundable $100 pet fee)

Rates do not include watercraft rentals, special requests, or off-site activities.

Cleaning Fee: $100 Per Rental.

Check in/Check out times: Check in between 3 and 5 pm; check out by noon. We can accommodate after hours check in/out times if given advance notice.
